Q
What is SV_COGS?
A
SV_COGS [COGS] is a software application, a Cost Engineering and product cost management (PCM) tool used to evaluate the different cost components of manufacturing processes and supply chains. It contains three modules:
1. Sanbox Where you map processes and supply chains by linking different nodes (AKA cost steps, contributors, actors) together. For an example Check out the first video on our website by clicking here or tutorial 002 in our Youtube channel.
2. Playground Automatically generates visual representations of cost distributions based on the process map you created, offering five different chart styles:
1. Concentric
2. Pareto
3. Financial
4. Heatmap
5. Sankey
3. Advanced Automatically generates multi-variable xy charts.

Q
What is the price of COGS?
A
Our perpetual license is free, you own it for life.
p
Q
Why is COGS free?
A
We consider COGS a first step, a proof of concept in our journey towards a bigger project we call VSM_ai. Releasing it for free helps us acquire UI/UX and market size feedback to factor into our next project.
p
Q
Will you share my data to third parties?
A
We do’t have access to your data, the app runs locally on your computer, you can check our privacy policy here.
p
Q
Does COGS use AI, large language models, or machine learning?
A
Ai is not the right tool for an application of this size and scope. We have develop COGS to generate exact values using logic programing. Our second product VSM_ai will use AI to predict optimized future states of a Value Stream Map. Learn how you can support us here.
p
Q
Do the Terms and Conditions contain any ‘small print’ I should know about?
A
The license you purchase is ruled by Apple’s App Store general terms and conditions which you can find here. Clear and strainght forward, no small print.
p
Q
Will you make COGS available in other platforms?
A
Development on other platforms depends exclusively on the funding we can get through sales of the MacOS+iOS version. We hope to expand into Windows, and Linux platforms. Please purchase COGS here .
p
Q
Does COGS introduce any novel cost analysis concepts?
A
Yes. Our analysis focuses on breaking down cost into...
Three ROOT CAUSE sub-groups:
Direct
- Driven by purchasing price
- Actionable by Procurement
- Improvement methodology: price negotiation, volumes, and CTQs
Yield
- Driven by process inefficiencies
- Actionable by Dev.Ops.
- Improvement methodology: Six-Sigma
Processing of non-value-add
- Driven by process design
- Actionable by Supply Chain and Dev.Ops.
- Improvement methodology: Lean
Three ACTOR TYPE su-bgroups:
Commodity Materials and consummables
Transit Transportation and Duties
Manufacturing Value Add Processes
Two COST TYPE sub-groups:
Actual cost Total ammount paid to a suppliers
Effective cost Impact of a supplier on the overall product cost including the effect of its yield and processing losses on other actors
